Body Systems
Learning in Body-Mind Centering® (BMC) includes intellectual, experiential and relational methods. Participants study every level of tissue, through lecture, imagery, movement, embodiment and group process. The Skeleton, Ligament, Muscle, Nerve, Organ, Endocrine, Fluid, Fat, Fascia, Skin, Cellular and Sub-cellular, Immune, Sensory and Perceptual systems are studied and explored.
Each body system is composed of living, growing tissue, in turn made up of related cells. With practice, we differentiate our experiences until we can initiate movement from specific body systems, tissues and cells in our bodies. This is done by directing attention into a specific area and noticing what we feel, what we think and how we want to move when our attention is there. As a community, we pool our empirical research by collecting our described experiences. This adds to each individual's and the work's ever growing data base on the nature of each system and how it supports and expresses in body and mind.
